The overall objective of the EU Centre is to improve overall awareness and knowledge on EU related issues (structure, policies, economy, law, the European integration, the EU-Russia relations, etc.) among lecturers, students, officials, CSIs and general public in the Barents area of Russia.Its specific objectives are:- to upgrade skills and knowledge of lecturers of the institutions of higher education;- to improve the existing courses on the EU issues and to develop new courses on the EU issues;- to improve knowledge of students and schoolchildren on EU related matters;- to promote better knowledge of the EU and cooperation between the EU and Russian regional officials and CSIs;- to provide information and consulting services and events on the EU issues;- to stimulate the EU research;- to develop functioning of the informing and training structure. The Action will be aimed at developing curricula enriching them with EU related subjects so that students could take high quality courses on the EU issues. In this regard lecturers will be trained to have all the necessary skills and knowledge to create and present high quality courses. The existing courses on the EU issues will be also improved taking into account new knowledge obtained within the framework of the Action activities. Besides that, outreach actions will be organized and the information flow scheme will be elaborated for the general public to increase their awareness and improve their knowledge on the EU issues. Training programme will be provided for municipal and regional officials and regional CSIs. The effective provision of full information on the EU, consulting services and active support of research development will provide the possibility to improve the EU research.
