EthnoFrance: the music I play in the place I live
Date du début: 1 oct. 2015, Date de fin: 30 juin 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

At the root of the project "EthnoFrance - The music I play in the place I live” is the concept of Ethnos, musical and international intercultural projects organised in many countries every year, bringing together young musicians so that they exchange the traditional music of their country. Based on non-formal methods and peer-to-peer teaching, each musician teaches his piece to the other, by oral transmission. The result is an ephemeral orchestra, multicultural, which plays pieces of all walks adapted with the influences of each. This Youth exchange is inspired by this principle, to use it to explore the theme "The music I play in the place I live". Participants, through music (their common passion), reflection and exchange activities, will wonder about the place of so-called traditional music in contemporary cultures, their evolution, their hybridisation in their country of origin but also in other country than the one where she was born. How are they perceived and received? Who listens them? How will they change and why? What are the similarities, differences? So many questions in common to all the participants that will be addressed throughout the project. EthnoFrance will be held from 3rd to 15th of May 2016, in France, in Massy, Essonne (Ile de France). It will bring together 25 participants living in Sweden, Algeria, Palestine and France, about the traditional music of Arab cultures. All musicians aged 18 to 30 years from an Arab culture whatever their country of residenc. They will meet for 11 days for various activities: reflection and discussion on the theme, through various focuses, fun and creative approaches ; rehearsals for a musical creation, on the principle of Ethnos; dissemination activities through various actions addressed to local communities; but also evaluation activities. These activities will be conducted via non-formal education methods. This Youth Exchange aims to provide a framework for constructive and playful reflection for young people, adapted to their concerns and their needs. Thus, it is inspired by their questions using their passion as a tool. Participants will be wildely encouraged to autonomy, will be involved in the implementation of the activities by defining their scope, their objectives and expectations. Through this intercultural exchange, an important objective is to offer young people the opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge that will serve them professionally and personally. This exchange aims to develop a strong impact at different scales, through a network of diverse partners. Many actions addressed local communities will take place. This project will be a tool to raise awareness about international projects, openness to the other and cultural curiosity. Internationally, it will develop the existing network, including the development of new projects to further develop the values of tolerance, intercultural dialogue and fight against discrimination through non-formal education.
