Association of the castles of Northern Hungary - the lead partner of the project founded in 2003. The founders aim has been to establish a permanent body to represent and lead the cooperation of the owner and maintainer organizations of the castles, fortresses and historical ruins of the Northern Hungarian Region. The association is planned to be the host of common project ideas, a sharing point of best practices as well as a lobbying body of the represented organizations.At the very start was an idea to develop the cross border cooperation with the similar organizations in Slovakian Republic. The aim of this project is to realize this intention and build up a strong network in order to escalate the association´s cooperation and values. The close aim is to this network substantiate the conditions (objectives, personal conditions etc.) of the joining to the Culture-routes of Council of Europe. Achievements: The main objective of the project was to enhance the basic intention of the founders to create a formalized cross-border cooperation of both organizations focusing on maintaining the castle walls which would extend the cooperation established within the Association \"Castles of Upper Hungary\" to the entire area of border castles. The goal of cooperation was the creation and operation of regional cultural route of castles and its official joining to the \"Cultural Routes\" recognized by the Council of Europe.
