The project addresses the wood sector and intends to create a modern multimedia version of the structural timber education programme with new material and a new presentation approach, using existing technology in e-learning and adapting it to the new context of the timber education programme. The internet based material will be available at www.innovawood.com, an Internet portal for the forest and wood industries sector. Target groups are students of engineering and architecture, civil engineers in SME’s, training providers. Target sectors are civil engineering and architecture. The project refers to a previous one, “Archiwood Online” and will explore the engineering issues from selected Archiwood studies. The expected results are an updated structural timber education programme on the Internet, lectures, e-learning material. The lectures and materials and the interactive case studies will be available in English, Italian and German. The lectures will available as books and on the Internet. A discussion forum and self assessment tools will be put on-line. Valorisation will be done through the network of the consortium Innova Wood (promoter) which has contacts to SME’s in construction throughout Europe. Studenets will be involved in the testing and piloting phases. Newsletters, brochures, articles in professional journals will be produced, workshops will be held. The impact is better educated workforce, safer construction in timber, promotion of online learning tools.
