Kainuu-Karelia’s wild forest reindeer population is declining and cross-border cooperation is needed for solving the problems. The objective is to safeguard the wild forest reindeer by updating the status of Karelia’s wild forest reindeer population and establishing the cooperation between the game animal researchers. Expected Results: 1. The status of Kainuu-Karelia’s wild forest reindeer population is updated and the achieved results are compiled in the action plan. The action plan will help the decision makers and government officials when planning the management of the species. 2. High quality materials of wild forest reindeer is produced and shared widely.
