This project involves the creation of a cooperation network between the health and environmental protection workshop of the department of medicine of Democritus University of Thrace, the public health sector of the medical school of the University of Sofia and the medical school of the University of Filippoupolis. The objectives of this transnational cooperation focus on education and research activities to develop joint education, research and post-graduate programmes in the area of public health to promote joint public health interests in Bulgaria and Greece in their respective cross-border region and student exchanges in the area of public health, health and safety at work and health treatment. The aims of the programme are to improve the health and education infrastructure in the programme implementation area and, therefore, strengthen the socio-economic development. Also, human capital investment in the education process. The mobilisation of the cross-border education and research communities for the development and exchange of knowledge and new technologies to deal with joint risks to public health. Initially, emphasis will be given to education fields for health related hazards.The individual actions concerning the effective implementation of the project on the basis of priorities agreed upon between the collaborating partners from both countries, are as follows:? Establishment of a cooperation team of Bulgarian and Greek academics and researchers, transnational cooperation and coordination.? Cooperation between scientists to record and capture data related to the human resources in health services, educational needs and risk factors to health of particular interest to the border areas between Greece and Bulgaria.
