In frame of the project we are planning to implement a youth exchange with four countries’ (Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Czech Republic) organizations. This project is closely related to the European Union and the nation’s efforts for equality. The program’s aim is gender equality and the treatment of socially injured groups, mainly Roma people. The program is implemented in Hungary and lasts for 9 days, with 36 participants. Each organization sends 8 people between the age of 18 and 25 plus a team leader.
Our aim is to increase youngsters’ tolerance, knowledge of equal opportunities, and at the same time to form a positive attitude. We want to develop our target groups’ competencies of social responsibility and active citizenship. With this we want to promote the creation of a generation in Europe that is free of prejudices. The goal of the youth exchange is that the participants during the program will process, and discuss the above mentioned topics through workshops, discussions, and exciting role-plays, so as to gain and change experience. After that the participants will project their thoughts, ideas, opinions or suggestions on posters in the form of drawings and images. These posters will be handed over to the local community through the participating youngsters, so as to open towards the locals, and inform them about the project’s topic. Moreover, we want to publish a handbook about the posters and workshops, which will be forwarded to other youth organizations, presenting them our meetings’ results.
During the cultural evenings in the exchange, youngsters present their own cultures, national tradition, so in this way we create an intercultural dialogue between the organizations. The main goal is to promote the individual and collective diversity, so as to mediate competencies. The participants learn from each other, and they will have a mutual understanding. Intercultural dialogue helps the participants to draw closer to each other. Getting familiar with their obtained experience reduces prejudices and promotes tolerance.
