Our project's content is; one of the most major problem of the schools which are located in disadvantaged territory is early school leaving. Because of the socio-economic and cultural structure of our students, our school is located in a disadvantaged region. In our school, low achievement, lack of motivation, negative perspective to the school and lack of communication between teachers and students are experiencing. Our teacher's efforts couldn't avoid these negative manners. Because of these deficiencies the number of the students leaving school without finishing their education is quite high.
The aim of our project is;to prevent early school leaving by solving the communication problems experienced with our students, to help growing healthy generations by enabling our students to continue their educations. Having lack of education causes negative situations like ignorance and wrong decisions. This is a cycle. Students who leave school at an early age will be poor model to their children and affect the future generation negatively. However, societies need individuals who have completed their training, who are qualified,useful. This can only be enabled by attendance to school. We intend to improve the rate of attendance to school, reduce the proportion of early school leaving by this project.
In our project there will be 13 teachers who are selected from each branch, having responsible qualities and two administrators including one principals. Our project coordination team will consist of 15 people. These teachers will work in collaboration and actively from the first stage of the project process.
Our project will start on 1/10/2015 and it will go on for 12 months. (1 year) In this 1 year it will be held mobilities to 3 countries in totally. The first of these mobilities is to an institution named Cervantes Training Course (CTC) in Spain/Madrid. The subject of the course is a coaching system to prevent the early school leaving. In order to embody our information via observation, there will be a job shadowing activity to a school in Romania. Our other mobility is to an institution named International Training Center (ITC) which is reliable and experienced in Czech Republic/Praque. The subject of this course is to increase student teacher communication and raising motivation in schools to prevent early school leaving. Our teachers who will participate in these mobilities will be determined by the project coordination team. At totally 10 teachers will participate in each course. And 5 teachers will attend for job shadowing activity.
By this project our teachers will contribute to the studies on preventing early school leaving by learning both methods of increasing motivation and achievement and getting expert support about coaching system. In addition, our school will have eliminated the major deficiencies of the problems encountered in student-teacher communication. So that we can communicate more effectively with our students who want to leave school; even these students can be persuaded to go on to school. The methods which will be used for this subject will be determined by the cooperation with the courses.
Expected results at the end of the project are;
By the increasing of motivation and achievement school climate will become in a positive way. To have more number of children at home undermines the parent-child relationship. When it is added to his the lack of communication with teachers, the student will see himself abandoned and marginalized and he isolates himself both from school life and social environment. By this project, this deficiency of communication will be solved and students' connection to school will be provided. By coaching system students will feel safe at school and gain a sense of belonging to school. In addition, our teachers will gain cultural wealth and experiences. This experiences gained will be shared with schools in the same area and will reaching a wider audiences to benefit to country ideology.
