The project Erasmus + „Towards Multilingualism” is the continuation of our previous project and will contribute to the increase in the competitiveness of State Primary School in Jaworsko on educational market of Debno borough. The increase in the European dimension is our priority to be obtained by joining various international initiatives and enriching our educational offer with introducing the English language into teaching such subjects as Science, Art, Information Communication Technology, Design and Technology, Music and Physical Education. What is more, an introduction of a second foreign language in our organisation has been planned. The school participation in Erasmus + programme will be the first step in realization of the above mentioned goals. If this application form is accepted by the experts from the Polish National Agency and we will receive the financial support for the activities planned, 4 out of 10 schoolteachers will participate in language, specialized and structured courses abroad combined with study visits. These are the teachers representing all educational levels in our school. Among the teachers who have been selected as potential beneficiaries of EU funding we can distinguish: the headmaster of the school, the teacher of English, the teacher of Science and the teacher of Information and Communication Technology, Design and Technology and Physical Education. In the process of participants’ selection, the criterion of school development in terms of quality improvement and the increase in the European dimension of the institution has been a decisive factor together with the analysis of competences and previous experience of potential participants in light of usability in a new project. The Plan of European Development has also had its role in the process of selection as it has outlined the most significant needs of the institution. The teacher of English will participate in the structured course including a series of study visits in local schools in Finland – a country known for its excellent education system and high-level achievements of its students. This teacher will also take part in a language course in Italy, which will prepare her for CELI exam giving qualifications to teach Italian. The headmaster will take part in the structured course combining observational and workshop approach in Iceland. The teachers of Science, Information and Communication Technology, Design and Technology and Physical Education will participate in language courses in the UK followed by 2-weeks of courses covering the area of CLIL methodology together with developing skills for creating and combining CLIL learning materials with the use of ICT. In order to enable different experiences each of the teachers will go to different countries. We expect that each of the courses will enable finding potential partners for international projects. The coordinator of the project will ensure participants’ support in all possible areas relating to organizational matters. All the activities undertaken within the project are going to the be monitored by the headmaster, coordinator, by the institutions organizing courses and partners. An evaluation of all the activities undertaken is to be carried out both at the end and during the project together with a wide range of dissemination activities. As for short-term and long-term measurable benefits and positive influence of the project not only on our school, but also outside it through the dissemination of its results, the following should be mentioned: -making students aware of a wide spectrum possibilities of applying foreign languages thanks to introduction of English into non-linguistic subjects -increase in the quality of school teaching and its competitiveness due to introduction of a second foreign language and CLIL methodology into school curriculum and due to the improvement in professional competences of the teachers -fulfilment of EU priorities, including the priority of multilingualism, horizontal policies and achieving assumptions of “Europa 2020” strategy -transformation from traditional to innovative teaching due to the use of cutting-edge methods practised in EU countries -European dimension of the school -local, national and European promotion of the school -the teachers will became more open and sensitive to other cultures and nations, they will develop their inter-cultural and socio-cultural competences -raising awareness in all school staff regarding the importance of learning foreign languages in school and outside school context -more than a half of the teachers’ communication skills in foreign languages -increase in student’s motivation for foreign language learning and their autonomy -possibility of sharing experiences with the teachers and headmasters from other schools -cooperation with European institutions in terms of international projects and exchange of experiences -improvement in the professional status of teachers
