The seminar ?Equality: Full Dimension? took place in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz, 20 km from Jerez de la Fra, for 8 days, from 9 to 16 March 2015, during 4 months of collaboration of 26 participants from 9 countries: 2 organizations from Spain, 1 from Italy, 1 from Hungary, 1 from Lithuania, 1 from Romania, 1 from Czech Republic, 1 from Estonia, 1 from Turquía and 1 from Croatia.
OBJECTIVES:
- Raise awareness on the issue of equality in a broad sense (gender equality regardless of sexual orientation)
- Provide tools for solving and preventing conflicts especially related to inequality, we can apply Erasmus + projects, but can also be adapted to other contexts.
We intend to respond to the need to develop tools to promote equality in our projects, and help other organizations as well.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- Create a guide with recommendations and activities using non-formal / informal education to promote gender equality, including sexual orientation.
- Discuss strategies to encourage youth participation and the balance between boys / girls in Erasmus + projects.
- Discuss the cultural conflicts preventing discrimination against gays / lesbians.
- Give visibility to the project and create greater impact, including local associations and municipalities in the project.
Activities promote active participation, exchange of views, the team spirit and cooperation. The working methods are based on non-formal education to meet the needs of the participants (personal, social and educational development), with discussions and expert presentations. In addition we implemented the tools created by participants for students in the IES El Cano.
-Games To foster teamwork and build confidence.
-National evening to expose a part of the traditions and culture were analyzed from the standpoint of equality and show European cultural diversity.
- Visibility actions include press conferences for local / TV newspapers, posters, articles, workshops in highschool, the gymkhana. Thus, the local community and young people were able to be involved in our activities, giving them the opportunity to interact and meet the Erasmus+ programme.
The expected outcome is to create a guide with recommendations, best practices, practical tools to prevent discrimination, social exclusion, to solve conflicts relating to issues of equality (boys / girls / with a different sexual orientation ).
We will publish the guide to make it available to other organizations, will continue to make presentations and meetings, we create a blog for equality in projects / events. This guide provide tools and best practices to bring a gender perspective to youth projects, and also prevent / solve possible disputes between participants with different sexual orientation.
