The 9th Gymnasium of Ilion is involved in various projects such as cultural, environmental, Health and Career Education projects. Every year, eight different projects are implemented at our school at an annual basis. One of them is designated for the theatrical education and the staging of a theatrical play. The school has an active Website, Blog and facebook page which serve as tools for the journalism project. Besides the projects which take place at a regular basis, the 9th Gymnasium has run two Comenius projects, a Comenius school partnership, entitled "Music Knows No Boundaries" and, also, has hosted a Comenius assistant from France. This year our school implements an e-Twinning project and we are to submit an application for the new Erasmus+ Cooperation and Innovation for Good Practices.
The existence of various projects and their support, by the management of the school, is making a significant contribution to the development of a culture of innovation becoming one day, a daily reality and consequently facilitating new suggestions and involvement of the school and the teachers.
With this project, the 9th Gymnasium wants to further development of its staff, through:
a. a better school management,
b. the promotion of an interdisciplinary cross-curricular approach of the knowledge using attractive, didactic material including ICT, c. Facilitation of the different target groups which form the capacity of a school.
The achievement of the above objectives is attempted through this proposal aiming at:
- the creation of a "Think Tank" team aiming at implementing the above targets,
- the development of annual strategy within a four-year framework,
- the strengthening of conflict mediation at school management and class management level,
- the constant concern for the teachers' pedagogical competence due to the complex social reality,
- the development of the teachers' pedagogical didactic and computing skills.
It is suggested: a) The creation of a Working Group is suggested with the decision taken by the teaching and administrative staff using explicit and transparent procedures and b) the cooperation in the creation of the proposal for the project and the identification of priorities as well as the procedure to find partner organizations for the implementation of the courses.
A system for monitoring and evaluating the project, the context, the participant teachers, the partner organization is to be suggested, according to issues of observation, evaluation as well as the involvement of three experts in evaluation who will faction as "external observers within the framework of "internal evaluation" of the school.
It is estimated that the project will enhance diversity and alternative solutions to the above mentioned areas:
a. Better school management.
b. The promotion of an interdisciplinary, cross-curricular approach of the knowledge using attractive didactic material including ICT. c. Facilitation of the different target groups which form the capacity of a school.
Also, the teacher's greater flexibility resulting in the strengthening of the vision of the pedagogic and educational process especially at a very difficult period for the teachers.
9 teachers will participate in the programme
The teacher's profile:
-The principal of the school, who highlights the importance of innovation at all levels of school operation and encourages the teachers to deal with school management and human resources managements as well as open didactic approaches.
-Teachers of various specialties (mathematicians, language teachers, science teachers, ICT Foreign Language teachers, aiming at an equal training through the courses of the project activities.
The selection was based on transparent criteria adopting as a dominant criterion the involvement of teachers with vision regarding the development of a culture for the innovation and quality of Education.
It is estimated that the impact will be very positive as it will enhance the cooperation between:
- colleagues, taking under consideration the fact that the participants will disseminate the learning results,
- teachers-students and vice versa,
- teachers of our school and teachers of other European countries in the framework of a European educational dimension
- teachers-parents due to raising awareness and flexibility of aspects, with which parents perceive the involvement of children at school,
- the school, the local community and stakeholders of education.
