We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. -T. S. EliotWhy this particular project? The project “Redefining European Values” was initiated based on our concerns regarding the future of Europe. It is a conversation that, in our days, keeps coming back into view, a whisper that’s spreading in the crowd of European citizens and getting louder, a conversation we can not ignore. So, we start an exploration of European Values, an exploration to give a new meaning to them. They are our starting and ending point, and we will start from the beginning. Which is the basic aim?"Redefining European Values" aims primarily to associate Greek high school students with European politics through non-formal learning methods. The project wishes to provide them with a unique experience comprised of collaborative games and activities, informal and formal political dialogue, analyses, discussions with special guests and Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), and acquaint them with different cultures and, all in all, create events that meet high quality standards.Who are the participants?Collectively:• 240 Delegate positions that will be covered by the opening of a call of interest, directed to pupils from various types of schools (General, Evening, Church and Music Schools) and Attica, Epirus, Thessaly, Macedonia or Thrace as their region of origin.• 130 Positions for officials, covered by Greek and European students• 50 Chaperones and teachers • 20 Experts and public figures Which are the events? After a detailed presentation to the corresponding question of the application, here we provide a short summary.Events organised by the youth and for the youthA1. Our events start with the Training of Officials on the first day and, for the following days, are structured around the triple axis Teambuilding - Committee Work - General Assembly.Which is the impact? The political education of 240 students from at least 120 schools with different characteristics and backgrounds will certainly lead to the dissemination of our work and achievements in a large portion of the young population. Besides, mailing the sessions' resolutions to schools and universities, as well as to relevant decision makers, summarises the essence of the proposed project, but also of this application; The meetings of young people and decision-makers.Why these specific partners? How will they contribute to the realisation of the project of" Redefining European Values?"The National Committees of the international network of EYP, our partners for this application, are permanent partners, our relations with which are characterised by the parallel course we follow, and have been largely shaped by the exchange of experience, know-how and innovative ideas. All partners will promote our project in their countries and will disseminate the results of our conferences. Our key partners will collaborate closely with us before the conferences in organisational and academic level, and will send their representatives as officials during the sessions, contributing in the multicultural character of our project. Which are the long-term benefits of “Redefining European Values”?As for the students-delegates, the project is a unique educational experience, which gives them the impetus to actively participate in political life in the years to come.Regarding their teachers, they are introduced to the methods of non formal learning that we use and to the concept of the European dimension in education. They subsequently disseminate the results of our project to their colleagues and their students, acting as multipliers. To conclude, bringing in contact young people and policy makers, we can not help but believe that the policy makers will consider the opinions and ideas of the youth during the configuration and execution of their decisions.
