In today's changing, globalized world educational systems need to be flexible and adjust to the new circumstances. As educators, we need to motivate, inspire and assist our students to have high self esteem and make responsible decisions for their physical, intellectual and spiritual growth. As responsible professionals, we need to embrace lifelong education, respect families and their sensitivities and enrich students’ knowledge and skills to face future challenges. Acknowledging these facts, the school decided to explore opportunities for the professional development of faculty and through that to increase school’s efficiency. The objectives of this project are:
1. Expansion of the school leaders' and teachers' professional expertise.
2. Active, realistic, and cooperative application of successful pedagogical practices in creating, implementing and evaluating a Strategic Plan for the Improvement of the school.
3. Reflection on teaching effectiveness and teachers’ self -evaluation of methods and procedures used in the learning process.
4. Communication and cooperation with the educational community to improve the quality of the provided education.
The headmaster and deputy headmaster of the school attended seminars in the United Kingdom («Managing and Developing self and others” ADC College, London) and Slovenia (“Leading schools into the Future”, Εekhoutcentrum, Belgium). The content of the seminars involved topics on educational leadership and effective practices to deal with future pedagogical challenges. The headmaster and deputy headmaster acted as multipliers of the acquired knowledge, experience, methods and tools and as coordinators of a Strategic Plan to improve the quality teaching and learning. School administration, teachers, parents and other members of the educational community worked together to enforce students conquer the essential knowledge, skills, strategies and attitudes to become active citizens who can overcome future challenges.
