Teachers of the first Comprehensive High School in Włodawa have decided to enter the ERASMUS+ program as the school is located in a town in the eastern Poland where there is a lack of professional and interpersonal development opportunities. There are no possibilities of improving qualifications, broadening teachers’ horizons and appraising abilities in the field of activity. The participation in the project is not only a chance to improve teachers’ qualifications and perfect possessed skills but also to enhance the effectiveness of the school work as an educational institution and to provide it with the European dimension. An additional advantage of joining the program is an opportunity for the students to perceive their teachers as people conscious of their European identity and those who take advantage of European Union’s blessing.
Five teachers wish to take part in the program: three teachers of English, a teacher of Latin (the headmaster of the school) and a biology teacher. The given teachers take a regular and active part in the school’s development and would like to influence its effectiveness. The teachers would also like to spread the idea of the ERASMUS+ program in their hometown, region, country and worldwide.
The main aims of the Project are: raising qualifications and competence of the teaching staff, comparing educational systems of European schools, increasing teachers’ motivation to further actions in aid of the school and personal development, the need to introduce innovations to the school’s educational offer and executing authorial programs.
The assumed aims will be realised by means of the following actions: participation in methodological and linguistic training, exchange of good practice with teachers of other European schools, establishing cooperation with foreign high schools and universities in order to organise school exchange, gaining knowledge and abilities in raising European funds and spreading knowledge concerning the benefits of the participation in the Project.
The foreseen results of the program participation are: developing linguistic and interpersonal competence as well as professional qualifications of the participants of the program and afterwards of other members of the teaching staff; enlarging teaching materials which will motivate students to deepen their knowledge; implementing recognized good practice, authorial programs and innovations which will affect gaining key competences by our students and will increase the school’s attractiveness in the eyes of potential students; gaining partners for international cooperation and giving the school the European dimension by promoting it worldwide.
