Enhancing economic cooperation in the field of integrated agricultural supply of goods along the Serbian-Hungarian border

The cross-border cooperation of Szeged and Subotica in the fields of agriculture and food industry has a long and notable historic tradition. The maintenance and development of this tradition is essential for the inhabitants of this area. The municipalities of Szeged and Subotica thus decided to enhancing the integrated agricultural supply of goods and agro-trade potential of the economic district reaching across the border relying on this common tradition, in the interest of increasing economic competitiveness of the region. This is the overall objective of the project. The specific objectives are:- Experience exchange- Establishment and harmonization of trade- Establishment of an integrated agricultural supply of goods- Extension of market-place assortment with more organic valuable products- Promoting- Training Main activities: project management, organization of conferences, workshops, business meetings, road shows, market research, procurement of equipments, establishment of a business database, construction of joint home page, editing publications, training, generating publicity, auditingAs a result of the project, besides appropriate quality of the agricultural supply of goods in accordance with EU policies, internationally significant markets are developed in the border area strengthening cross-border business contacts and cooperation. It becomes feasible for targeted agricultural producers to become familiar with product specialties (organic products) and the latest technologies from along the border, and an integrated agricultural supply of goods is established. Moreover merchants get to know integrated commercial channels and ways to join these. Expected and most important outputs: 2 times 80-100-person conferences, 2 workshops, 2 business meetings, 1 market research study, 20 caravans, product presentations in four cities in each country, establishment of a business database with data of products, training and producers, joint home page construction and publications in three languages (5.000pcs) Achievements: Common market research, was done and a study based on it was created. Thematic business database was developed and a joint interactive homepage in 3 languages was made. Publication in 3 languages was realized and publicity actions were completed by following all above mentioned activities. All activities were covered by the media. 5 days intensive marketing training for 30 participants), roadshows took place in the period of 24.05 - 12.06.2011.Expert conference was held in Subotica hosting 134 people. There were 2 workshops in Subotica hosting 72 people and in Szeged 55 people. 2 business meetings took place in Subotica and in Szeged hosting 30 participants per meeting. In Subotica, a press conference was held to present the current state of the project
