The project aims at improving the road section between Sella Carnizza and Uccea, that it to say the road connecting the municipality of Resia with the State border, in order to ensure transit safety and smootherrunning traffic, as well as to foster mobility among cross-border workers and tourists. To this end, the road width will be increased (based to the morphology of the ground) - below the existing road - by means of retaining walls properly covered with stones and/or, above the road, by excavating and arranging the existing slopes, possibly resorting to minor containing work. The road layout will be modified by removing the most critical and winding points. To this end, some slopes will be excavated and subsidence areas will be filled also by means of small connecting bridges. The whole work will be finished with graded ramps, humps, asphalt surfacing, protective guard-rails and any additions that may be deemed necessary. All meteoric water drainage canals are going to be maintained or suitably restored to full efficiency in order to improve the ordinary water outflow. The overall intervention was planned while attaching special attention to its inclusion in the surrounding environment, to the covering of escarpments that are subject to soil movement and in general to avoid any action that might have a disruptive environmental impact.
