English for an International School

ITS Deledda Fabiani is a secondary school and it comprises some different branches as Chemistry, Materials and Biotechnologies, Buildings, Environment and Territory, Graphics and Communication. It's a town school with 688 students, 337 females and 351 males, 89 teachers and 28 staff members. The school is located in Triest, border town and melting pot of different cultures, religions and languages, example of peaceful cohabitation among communities which have made diversity a source of richness. The large amount of non Eu students in our school really reflects this cultural mix. The school is in touch with the principal international research institutes present in our territory, with the University and The National Health System, the Local Government and it realizes working stages in the territory. Our school was very active in international projects like Comenius and continues to be involved in Asia-Europe projects, and after years of on line cooperation we have been engaged in students' exchanges and in INTERNATIONAL FRIENSHIP WEEKS. In order to better manage the international projects, to welcome foreign students, to extend CLIL modules and to train teachers to teach a subject in english in the last classes ITS Deledda Fabiani wants to promote a linguistic and methodological training of its staff, so that this can start an innovative process in the internationalization of the school itself. The participants, 12 teachers and 2 staff members, with a minimum B1 linguistic level of English, after a linguistic and cultural preparation, will attend a 2 week course of English and CLIL methodology in England. The project will have a biennal development. The experience will be monitored and evaluated in all its stages both by the participants and by the school. As a result we expect to have a motivated team with increased linguistic, methodological, social, relational and professional competences able to work together for a more international school ready to answer the new demands of the everchanging reality.
