Englisch für Berufsschullehrkräfte in internationalen Projekten
Date du début: 1 févr. 2016, Date de fin: 31 déc. 2017 PROJET  TERMINÉ

English for vocational teachers in international projectsEvery year 30 - 40 students of the vocational school BBS II Gifhorn have the chance to visit foreign countries in the European Union. The students, educated in diverse professions, complete three-week internships in companies of their course of education. Due to organisational aspects and to improve the cooperation between the schools, the students are accompanied by teachers of our institute. Based on our experience, some of our students are in need of the support given by our teachers. Furthermore, lessons continue during these internships. Thereby teaching concepts and teaching units are developed and be tested. To organise these internships and to accompany our students, it is inevitable to have a certain language competence. Especially the technic-based contents must be recorded and formulated.Based on our long-term experience concerning projects in the EU, we observed an increasing number of basically necessary documents which are written in English and their translations are rather late available. To improve the contact and the communication between our institution and our partner schools it is necessary to communicate on the same level yet this requires a certain language competence in English. A vocational school usually has teachers which are traditionally more focussed on technics than on language skills. Due to this aspect some vocational teachers are reserved concerning a visit abroad. Yet it is one of our main aims to involve a lot of our teachers into our international work. To reduce fears of acquiring language skills we planned this language staff education for our teachers. Basically our teachers will be educated in everyday language, reading and writing documents as well as the development of technical based Units in English. It is of utmost importance to improve the language competence and thereby reduce language difficulties. This matter is valid for reducing language difficulties abroad but also for our institute which often invites teachers and students from all over the world. To communicate and discuss diverse teaching contents and organisational matters it is of essential importance to acquire a high standard of English language skills.Based on our research for capable language schools concerning English we decided for schools in Malta and in Ireland. A selection of 12 of our teachers will be done for a course in 2016 and a course in 2017. The criteria are participation in educational EU projects, individual language deficits but also a certain interest in the English language.Due to organisational matters of our institute BBS II Gifhorn, it is necessary to have target date in March and May of 2016 and 2017. Five or six teachers will participate in a five-day course at a language school. The teachers will also visit a vocational school in Malta and Ireland to get a certain insight into the vocational education of the named countries. We are going to contact both institutions. This language education is also part of our strategy to improve our concepts for a larger international program. Within this program we are going to improve our acquisition of competences in a European frame. We hope for motivation and appreciation of our teachers which are dedicated since years and always try to improve their language skills as well as their dedication in EU projects and the development in certain units of vocational education based on ECVET/DQR.
