Engage and Learn EU
Date du début: 1 sept. 2013,

The project “Engage and Learn EU” aims at strengthening and qualifying the teaching of EU integration and other EU issues in secondary schools in Denmark. The project is based on solid experience from our teaching project DEO education. DEO education annually reaches more than 200 teachers and 1000 students face to face – and some 20.000 teachers and students on the web portal www.deo.dk/undervisning. The project addresses a series of challenges for the teachers: - How to teach about the European economic crisis – and the future of EU - How to use EU role playing and simulation games - How to teach about and engage the students in the European Parliament elections in 2014 The core activities are four large teachers' conferences – two in each of the main regions of Denmark – executed in close cooperation with our EU-network for teachers (counting more than 200 teachers at 100 schools) and the Universities of Roskilde (east) and Aarhus (west). The project will provide: - Four conferences with close interaction between researchers, leading EU experts, teachers and didactical experts. Conference publications will be available for all teachers in the country. - Two workshops for Diploma of Education students - Three ready-to-use role plays enabling teachers to engage students in innovative learning processes - A series of theme packages (free crash course online teaching materials) with a total of more than 30 themes updated and covered at all times - A series of round table meetings resulting in full day EU-role play sessions with 60-120 students participating The Engage and Learn EU project grounds EU-expertise and research in the everyday practice of teachers and students alike. All of our materials are free and designed for crash course use in the classroom. We expect with this project to be able to engage a large number of teachers in face-to-face activities and all teachers will have access – and be informed on - the online materials available.
