Development of a sustainable energy sector in perspective of a sustainable use of energy resources, through the implementation of a system for electricity and heat production from biomass, municipal, agricultural and industrial waste. Expected Results: Implementation of a pilot plant for energy recovery from biomass waste in Tunisian rural areas and definition of protocols for energy-environmental efficiency to be adopted by the stakeholders.Increase in use of modern energy sources (biomass cogeneration), supply from renewable sources, number of stakeholders involved in the adoption of energy-environmental protocols.Development of basic paradigms of EU energy policy, such as reduction of greenhouse gases emissions, improviement of energy efficiency and integrated policies to improve the governance of the concerned territories. Creation of a GIS database on the current status and potential production of biomass residues in the concerned territories.
