Head of the Children and Youth Department and 2 teachers from the department will travel to Finland and Denmark in order to learn about projects that artschools, cultural houses, artists have worked on in collaboration with primary and secondary schools in these countries. Each visit will be 5 days long and different artschools, cultural houses and schools that have taken part in such collaborations will be visited. The aim is to map out the surrounding and implementation of these different projects in order to further develop and improve the collaborational projects that the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts has been working on for over a decade with schools and kindergartens in Reykjavík. We also want to improve the evaluation of these projects and will especially be examining the methods used to assess the outcome of such projects in Denmark and Finland. This work will therefor have direct impact on the projects and its results will be presented for the Department of Education and Youth of the City of Reykjavík. That way we hope to have direct impact on the contracts made with the city for funding of the projects. Three teachers along with Head of Foundation will register at the Biannual conference Elia - Location / Aesthetics held in Glasgow from Nóvember 13th. until Nóvember 15th. 2014. We estimate that the trip will take 6 days. The conference is divided into six sections which are spread over 4 days. We intend to monitor the lectures, seminars and discussions related to art and art education. After returning home the group will invite colleagues to a meeting / lecture and share their experiences. The head of departmet will also meet with the teachers to further discuss the conference with possibilities of further developing new ideas based on the themes, for the departments final semester.
