Calandreta Castresa is a kindergarden and primary school teaching Occitan by immersion. This languague is still spoken in the South of France, North of Spain and Italy. Calandreta Castresa pays a lot of attention to the Occitan and its culture. The Occitan culture has always been very opened to other cultures. Therefore, hosting European Volunteer and giving her/him the opportunity to present, to all the pupils, her/his culture is part of the Calandreta Castresa pedagogic project. Each year since 2002, Calandreta Castresa has been hosting a European Volunteer. Calandreta Castresa tries to select a volunteer from a different country every other year, so that the children may have the largest possible view of Europe while also being exposed long enough to one culture to grasp its particularities. The school's aim is to allow the pupils to discover the richness of European diversity and cultures. We therefore offer to the European Volunteer the possibility to develop, with the pupils, intercultural projects. The European Volunteer should appreciate to work with children aged from 2 to 11 year old. The European Volunteer may propose animations, workshops, etc.... validated by the pedagogic staff, during school time in the morning . During lunch and extra-curricular time, the European Volunteer may also propose animations, outdoor or indoor activity, manual or artistic activities in collaboration with the animators team. Calandreta Castresa is ready to give ground to the volunteer's initiatives and creativities around the educational and free-time projects. It will allow the European Volunteer to discover the implication in the life of a school team, and built a cultural relation with the children.
