empowerWoment. Camino hacia el empoderamiento de la mujer inmigrante

Female inmigrants, with university studies, is quite common in Spain, although their space in the Spanish labour market is not according to their qualifications, as their titles are not recognised. So they mostly take lower qualified jobs, as a way to be able to stay in the host country. They usually don’t have “natural supports” (meaning realtives, friends,…) and have to face daily situations that have to do with cultural differences. They often arrive to the host countries mislead by the “European dream” but find themselves facing situations that have nothing to do with their expectations. Their titles are not validated, they usually don’t have economic resources to access the european educational system, and they are not able to proof their professional skills on-the-job, as they have huge difficulties in accessing the labour market. empowerWOMENt aims at the transfer and adaptation of methodology considered as a good practice within the Leonardo DA Vinci project Down-Up in order to favour the access to continuous training and to the labour market to immigrant women. The project wants to reinforce the skills and competences of immigrant women with university studies, more specifically we seek for the following objectives: .To draw-up a methodology for the professional training of immigrant women with university degrees in order to favour their access to cualified jobs on the labour market,.To train the vocational trainers so as to improve their competences regarding the training to immigrant women, .To train the on-the-job tutors/trainers and “peer support” people inside the enterprises, .To raise awareness among employers towards the hiring of qualified female immigrants, .To promote a democratic culture of respect towards diversity both within training and labour market.
