Empowermentstrategien in einem gemeinsamen Europa
Date du début: 1 août 2015, Date de fin: 31 déc. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The project brought together 16 young people from Germany, the Republic of Ireland and Turkey respectively. Most of them live under socially deprived conditions and have a migrant background. The joint event aimed at developing ideas for a brighter future. A deprived upbringing within their families as well as a lack of educational support often impeded finding a decent qualification. These young people need offers and strategies apart from their familiar surroundings to strengthen their personal development in terms of promoting their career. The project’s participants were confronted with impulses on career orientation and conduct of life by having offered them various tasks from adventure and experiential education for 9 days. Thus they were made aware of cultural backgrounds and modes of behavior. They learnt key competences to better meet career demands in a cooperative and respectful exchange. Moreover language competence was fostered by performing tasks in more than one language. Overcoming language barriers as well as learning another European language helped identifying with the greater idea of Europe. Highly important was their participation as well as self-reliance in terms of creatively organizing and structuring their time spent together. By doing so, the young people experienced the positive effect their actions can have. Joint physical activities led to a general well-being, a higher ability to withstand stress and finally a higher achievement potential. The young people became familiar with their own talents and abilities that will allow them to enter the vocational world. The international exchange allowed them to get insights into intercultural contexts and support intercultural communicative competence. Thus they also got to know social skills and attitudes that will help them to become mature and responsible citizens and workers and reflect upon their ways of living in a more differentiated way.
