Empowering Students through High-quality European Education
Date du début: 1 juil. 2014, Date de fin: 30 juin 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Our school, IES “Nosa Sra. dos Ollos Grandes”, Lugo, Spain has a longstanding international profile, and the promotion of multilingualism, and ICT-based and CLIL methodologies have been part of our core policy for over two decades. Thus, we have been very active within the framework of EU programmes for education: since 2000 we have coordinated bilateral and multilateral Comenius actions with Sweden, France, Germany, Italy, Finland, the UK, and Romania; have set up strategic partnerships with Sweden, France and Germany which have led to short-term exchanges of groups of students; have made extensive use of IT support platforms like eTwinning; and have taken part since its inception in the Comenius Individual Pupil Mobility action for long-term mobility of students. Moreover, we have not neglected the professional development of our teachers who have taken a leading role in European programmes and have participated in Study Visits and EU-funded courses. Quality, the dissemination of results and sustainability have been given priority in all our actions, and our school has been invited to take part in European programmes sessions as examples of good practice by the Spanish National Agency (OAPEE) and the agencies for educational innovation (CAFI) and European programmes of the Government of Galicia (Spain). The general objectives of our European Development Plan (EDP) have to be seen within this context: investing in human capital. Our Programme aims at contributing to the international dimension of education, the promotion of European values, the production of open educational resources (OER), the recognition and validation of competences (Europass) and the exchange of experience and good practice. Beyond these general objectives, we will focus on multilingualism, CLIL and ICT-based methodologies, and the cultural dimension of language. We will select three teachers who will participate in structured courses organized by well-established institutions providing teacher training in the UK, Malta and Germany. The courses will focus on CLIL and ICT-based methodologies and the cultural dimension of language. Our teachers have full operational capacity to implement the project, and their performance has been demonstrated in managing previous European Programmes. They hold MA or PhD degrees and are independent or proficient users of English, German, French and / or Portuguese (levels B2 to C2). Two of them are currently using CLIL-based methodology. Another teacher will take part in a job-shadowing activity in Sweden. The planned mobility activities are inscribed in a wider and long-term strategy of development and modernisation of the school and are fully consistent with the objectives of this EDP as they focus on CLIL and ICT methodologies, online tools for CLIL, cultural dimensions of language and effective teaching strategies. Our school is currently using CLIL-based methodology in areas related to Economics, Entrepreneurship and Philosophy. We aim at expanding CLIL methodology to other areas to achieve the goal of offering a full multilingual and multicultural experience to our pupils and teachers; produce high-quality OER; and develop new and innovative teaching and learning methods. To carry out the EDP the school management is playing and will play a very active role planning, supporting and following up the mobility project so as to maximize the impact of the activities on the professional development of all staff and to ensure the integration of newly-acquired skills into the school teaching practice for the benefit of the school, teachers and pupils. Finally, our EDP aims at the empowerment of our students to make them fully able to participate actively in a democratic life in Europe. Enhancing their skills and competences through innovative, well-performing education is a key driver to achieve high-quality employability. We believe that the Erasmus+ Programme is a highly effective instrument to achieve these long-term benefits
