EMPOWER: volunteering as an alternative to youth unemployment and social exclusion
Date du début: 1 févr. 2011,

This proposed multilateral Youth Exchange aims to bring together 42 young people and 12 youth leaders from Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Ukraine, Belorus and Russia to initiate new youth participation projects with young people having economic and employment problems in order for them to become motivated and trained in youth empowerment/volunteering issues. The development of this exchange was facilitated at the Projects' fair of the SALTO EECA Study Visit to the Russian Federation. After identifying common priorities for empowering youth in volunteering this exchange is planned to take place for 7 days in Kazan Region, Tatarstan Republic, Russia. Young people will develop their knowledge in participation issues to find alternatives to social exclusion and unemployment through a series of training workshops and volunteering activities. All the participants will have a chance to be peer educators and some will also carry out a role as peer leaders. This project will give the young participants an opportunity to organize informal peer led activities for other young people and local community, while accepting feedback on the chosen methodology and to be active citizens through volunteering. Additional funding to incorporate a larger training dimension will be applied through the EYF Foundation.
