Project's ''Employ European youth CREATIVELY'' contact making event gathered 24 youth workers, youth leaders, project managers and educators from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic, Greece, Romania, Malta, Belgium and United Kingdom. To share opinions about the concept of ''creating employment by youth for youth'' and take responsibly to actively participate in shaping employment situation in Europe. During contact making event participants were learning about empowering young people to foster development of social entrepreneurship in their communities as well as discussing and addressing main youth unemployment challenges to overcome on local and European levels. Main activity of project ''Employ European youth CREATIVELY'' took place in Gulbene region, municipality of Ranka, Latvia, and lasted for 6 days, from 24th till 29th of August, 2015.
Aim of the project EEYC was to improve expertise and knowledge of youth workers and leaders about social entrepreneurship, to motivate involvement of young people into creation of creative social enterprises within their communities.
Project improved participants understanding about social entrepreneurship and initiative, motivated them and allowed them to develop initiative towards entrepreneurial thinking. Creation of closer ties between international organizations helped to develop several project ideas and establish new future partnerships. Involved organizations were encouraged to focus on strategical partnership projects in the field of youth under Erasmus+ Key Action 2.
Project involved organizations and youth workers from various regions of Europe. Different situation and experience in each particular country gave a great chance to learn from each other. Address the common issues and work towards solutions, involved partner organizations were encouraged to involve more young people in non-formal training activities. Importance of using creative ideas was highlighted as well to promote creation of new social enterprises and bringing positive changes in reducing youth unemployment.
The idea of the project EEYC was not only to give knowledge, but also competencies to act. During the main activity in Latvia non-formal learning methods were applied, such as team building activities, workshops, discussions, group works, outdoor activities, experiential learning, visiting local youth centre in Ranka and rural enterprises, etc.
