Embedding Quality Assurance in Doctoral Education
Date du début: 15 oct. 2011,

Although having developed internal quality assurance systems (in different degrees and directions), all public universities in BiH currently face the difficult challenge of defining and delivering quality doctoral education, as one of the cornerstones of the Bologna reforms. Lacking clear guidance and strategic approaches to institutionally integrated PhD education, all attempts to modernize doctoral education remain on the level of individual, faculty-based, mentorship programs as a result of which public universities currently fail to adequately fulfil the needs to the BiH labor market and society. The wider objection of the project "Embedding Quality Assurance in Doctoral Education" is to promote and support the development of state-of-art doctoral education at 8 public universities in BiH in line with Bologna and Salzburg principles and the Strategy for Development of Science in BiH 2010-2015.Specifically the project is aimed at:1. Integration and more efficient management of doctoral education at 8 public BiH universities by the end of 2013;2. Formulation and adoption of Quality Standards in Doctoral Education at university and state level by the end of 2013;3. Development of one doctoral program per university (8 pilot projects) aligned with adopted procedures and quality standards by the end of 2014.The principal outputs and outcomes of the project are as follows:1- Development of university capacities for quality doctoral education2- Establishment of preconditions for quality PhD education and research3- Formulation of Quality Standards in Doctoral Education4- Development of 8 new PhD programs in BiH (8 pilot projects)5- Monitoring and Quality Control6- Dissemination7- Sustainability8- Management of the projectThe project intervention plan foresees the achievement of above-mentioned objectives and outcomes through a number of capacity-building, dissemination and sustainability activities in the period of 36 months.
