ELEVATOR – Increasing the competences of elevator technicians through work-based e-learning initiatives

Inadequate maintenance and lack of specific technical knowledge regarding safety standards can lead to serious problems/accidents with elevators. To answer this need for more safety this project wants to increate the competences of qualified technical staff in the elevator sector by developing specialised training and training content (including e-learning). Specific results or products that will be produced are a European market survey if the sector, an inventory of competences of elevator technicians, a screening tool for those competences, a European curriculum for a basis and advanced training for elevator technicians, and an elaborated methodology. Final target groups of the project are technicians in the elevator sector, future employees in the sector, graduates and students in technical studies, elevator companies (constructors, installers, service and repair), unemployed, and teachers and trainers. Also the project orients towards these secondary target groups: technical institutions, institutions for vocational training, schools for adult education, universities, professional organisations, trainers and mentors. The dissemination activities are concentrated on distribution of information through the project website, website of the partners, articles, networking and other promotional materials. The valorisation strategy also includes national and transnational conferences and seminars, and the close involvement of policy makers at different levels.
