Electrotechnics in action

The aim of the proposed project was to provide an opportunity to our students to complete a particular practical training in the form of two-week traineeship in Croatia at hardware firms chosen by our host school abroad. Our Partner organization was l. tehnicka skola Tesla (1st Technical School Tesla). When selecting work places for our students, we focused on special positions which we could not provide our students with in the Czech Republic. By taking this course the students improved their knowledge and practical skills. The communication language was English. This experience has contributed to their better employability in the labour market in the Czech Republic as well as in Europian Union. The target group were gifted students of specializations Electrotechnics, Mechanic electrotechnic and Information Technology. In addition, the target group of students was always accompanied by a teacher (the supervisor). The supervisor evaluated the course at the end of each intership together with the involved students and the project team. Teachers of vocational subjects provided professional training of students before their departure. The accompanying teacher monitored the students’ work during the intership. The organization of the project was covered by the school management and the project coordinator. The school project team provided professional, cultural, psychological and linguistic preparation before the departure of the students. As well, there was arranged a short course of technical English, which focused on English technical terminology. With a help of our Croatian partner teacher, who is familiar with Czech language, and during their mobility the students learnt basic Chroatian. Our students were given a technical English dictionary and during their traineeship they added Croatian expressions to each term. The main objective of the project was to increase skills of students of our school in order to achieve the level of highly skilled and flexible technicians. As well, their language skills improved a lot. We realised two traineeship courses each with 5 students and one supervisor each. At the end of each traineeship course we organized a validation meeting. Each student who participated in the project was certified by obtaining Europass Mobility at the end of the course and a Certificate of Attendance. Our institutions cooperated to improve the quality of learning and acquiring the knowledge, skills and competences in accordance with the EQF. We have transferred the learning outcomes (formal, informal) into EQF to be used in ECVET and national qualifications scheme.
