EL IES El Palmeral hacia Europa 2020
Date du début: 1 juin 2014, Date de fin: 31 mai 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

El Palmeral, a Secondary and Vocational Education and Training School, wants to become a Multilingual School in a short-time period. Thus, Multilingual and European Mobility Program is a major priority in its Schooling Program, for both students and staff. Europe is considered as an essential part in our students' education, since it provides not only a comprehensive education but also labour market opportunities. For that reason, Multilingualism is the key to achieve our goals and to improve our teachers' English competence. After a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) we came to the conclusion that improving our teachers' fluency in English is essential to become a Multilingual School in a short-term period. Five teachers have been selected responding to clearly identified needs from different departments, which are committed to multilingual education, and which are eager to teach their subjects in English. In fact, one of these teachers has already been teaching his module of Health and Safety Management in English, under the umbrella of an experimental multilingual program, approved by our government. Our selection criteria are based on: 1.- Teacher's real commitment to multilingual education in a short term. 2.- Teacher's status in the school, either with a temporary or permanent post. 3.- Coherence between the institution needs and the staff background We think diving our staff into an Intensive English course is an invaluable chance. Moreover staying in UK/Ireland would also enrich their professional and personal experience, as well as their awareness of the cultural diversity. Regarding the results and long-term benefits, becoming a Multilingual School will contribute to : 1.- Enhance both the participants' language competence and the quality of the teaching methodology. 2.- Raise participants' awareness and understanding of the social, linguistic and cultural diversity in Europe. 3.- Improve our students' English competence which will allow them to enrich their qualifications. 4.- Increase both the teacher's initiative and entrepreneurship. 5.- Boost the teachers' self-confidence in their English competence. 6.- Broaden the teachers' opportunities of mobility to any European country. 7.- Promote our European dimension in education, as well as achieve synergies that will allow us to collaborate actively with other European institutions in order to develop programs to respond to the needs of the students and staff. Last but not least, our chief priority is to educate open-minded students who are able to develop their professional skills in an effective way in a foreign language. Erasmus+ means maximizing the potential of the program, so that the results can be used beyond the lifetime of the project, since that is our commitment.
