Owner of the Project is Yakacık Anatolian High School. 10 participants, maximum 2 people from each branch will be elected from Turkish Literature, Mathematics, Geography, English, Chemistry, Physics, History, Biology, Technology teachers and guidance counselors.
Technology, which spreads so quickly in our country and all over the world, is wanted to be integrated to education. For Turkey, which has same education system and almost same curriculum, technology usage in education is a late innovation. Existing education system is changed and developed with technological devices, whose affects are expected to be seen well in the future. Therefore, knowledge and skills of teachers and students is wanted to increase and so quality of education is wanted to be increased.
According to PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) 2012, which is organized by OECD (the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) in order to determine whether students are ready for life at the end of compulsory education and is a comprehensive study, Turkey is 45th among 65 countries. In other words, our education system fails with respect to PISA results. FATİH (Movement of Enhancing Opportunities and Improving Technology) project, which is emerged just after this study, has characteristics to solve this problem.
Devices of information technologies are began to be used in education sector in February 2012 thanks to FATİH (Movement of Enhancing Opportunities and Improving Technology) project. This project, which is constructed in the light of Strategy Document of the Information Society including actions for the process of being an Information Society, carries out to improve used technology. In many pilot schools that are elected according to some criterions, infrastructure of web, smart board and Wi-Fi web connection sets up were conducted.
In our institution, which was selected for FATİH project, smart board systems were set up in all classes in 2012. In 2012 – 2013 education periods, lessons were in those classes. Although this new system has many advantages for education, it came up with many usage problems. Our school employees, who receive compulsory education about devices of information technologies and usage of smart board, increase participation of students and have troubles to find materials in their own branch. This gives lots of responsibilities to teachers and thus quality of education decreases. Students, who are lectured by using smart board, don’t receive qualified education because of absence of knowledge about using smart board. So, these students are affected negatively. Therefore, teachers should be educated in detailed for effective, reliable and accurately usage of educational materials which have to be designed for FATİH project.
School employees, who are planned to take part in activities of the project, will receive education oriented for efficient usage of technological devices, teaching methods and preparing materials for their own branch in a European institution that has much experience about these topics. With this education, participants will enlarge their vision and increase their knowledge and skills on this area by having chance to analyze efficient presentation of new interactive curriculum and educational and pedagogical methods.
If these educations are organized, participants will contribute to increase quality of education by creating more effective, permanent and practical teaching methods and preparing interactive presentations. Besides, participants will improve their skills on using English in daily life by attending an English course.
After completing the project successfully, participants will come back to our country as people who increase their knowledge and skills on information technologies, understand technical and practical aspects of technology integrated education and know how to raise students who can use technology consciously and effectively.
Participants of the project will take part in activities in an institution in Milan, Italy, for two weeks in the dates between 08.03.2015 and 22.03.2015. Our institution is responsible for accommodation, food, education and cultural activities.
