Efficient information flow through peer networking
Date du début: 30 sept. 2015, Date de fin: 29 août 2016 PROJET  TERMINÉ

The youth unemployment rate is excessively high in both partner countries Cyprus and Greece. Not being able to find regular employment many young persons in both countries are looking for alternative ways of employment such as voluntary service, internships, non formal education activities etc. Although such opportunities exist both on a local and a EU level, information about them does not always reach the target group of young unemployed persons partly because authorities and young people do not use the same channels of communication and don't speak the "same language". The aim of the project is to support a group of young persons (4 from Cyprus and 4 from Greece) to become mediators between authorities/ institutions and the target group ie. young unemployed persons and those still in education. The mediator group will collect relevant information such as job postings, internships, voluntary service, participation in youth projects etc. and disseminate this information in a way that will be accessible to the group of their peers. In order to reach as big a group as possible, information will be forwarded both via social media, internet platforms and other digital media and in meetings in which the mediator group will also act as living books for their peer group giving information about their own experiences and facilitating the way through understanding announcements, realising deadlines, writing applications and other potential obstacles. The impact on both groups (mediators and peer group in both countries) will be significant as a result of the hands on methodology and the real life activities of the project which will lead to a higher rate of participation of young persons in society during and after the end of the project. On a European level the project supports the greater visibility of EU actions for young persons and the idea of youth engagement and participation.
