SRNs ultimate aim is to ensure that Structural Fund programmes are delivered more effectively. It is achieving this by creating an arena in which partners can exchange experience and identify good practice that can improve the delivery of Structural Funds and be used in the development of new projects. The network is focusing on delivering programmes in sub-regional areas – those containing fewer than 800,000 inhabitants – while meeting the needs of local populations and regional strategies. Achievements: Achievements so far The Delivery of the project has been very successful and excellent progress has been made towards achieving the objectives.Eight partners have hosted workshops in their regions to facilitate a sharing of information between partners and identification of good practice. The SRN Network project began in September 2004 and in the first reporting period established terms of reference and set up procedures, management structures and network schedule for the project. At the first event hosted by the metropole Communaute Urbane, Lille , the network steering group (NSG) was formed and a programme of workshops discussed and recorded. A dedicated Network Co-ordinator was appointed to operate on behalf of the network from the offices of the Lead Partner and the Co-operation agreement between all partners was established. A holding page was set up to fill the interim until the main website was established. During the second period the network was restructured on a basis of 12 rather than 13 partners. The website was put up and set out the structure and aims of the network. This website (www.srneurope.net) has been continually updated and contains many resources for the use of the partners and any other interested parties, such as the Early Findings report, position statement , case studies, Background documents and minutes and reports from meetings demonstating the partners shared experiences of structural fund and regeneration delivery practices. This site has translations in Catalan and Spanish that detail the work of the network. The networks' early findings report had some influence on the development of National Strategic Reference Framework documents in memebr states . The Network has published an early findings report and good practice guide with exec summaries which are freely available to be downloaded alaongside over 200 other documents relatings to it's work on the website. In the final period the network disseminated it's findings to relevant people and contributed to the open days events in Brussels. This project has been disseminating information through events such as a joint meeting with the S3 Network, a Territorial Cooperation Roadshow, the Lisbon Monitoring Platform and the Open Days events in Brussels in 2006 and 2007, at which the lead Partner presented the networks findings and recommendations. The networks Mid-term seminar in Tenerife was a particularly successful event, which a high number of regeneration professionals attended and its' Final Conference was complemented highly for the quality of its' presentations and its excellent study visits on the second day of events.A range of publications highlighting the work of the network have been produced and an extensive breakdown of the work to date can be found on the website.
