As a result of lack of motion, an increase of convenient life-style and the time spent behind computer the well-being and health of feet has become an actual matter in Estonia, being a welfare state. The issue has been deepened because of insufficient knowledge of hygiene, feet care, callosity, ingrown nails, sudoriferous toes, clavuses and anatomical changes of arches of foot. Furthermore, if we add stress, easy accessibility to unhealthy food that brings along the increase of bodyweight which causes steatopygia, it could lead to complicated illness – diabetes with its different ailment. The aim of the project "Welfare and health of the feet of Estonian people through the development of Podiatry Curriculum" is to provide high-quality foot care through the curriculum of podiatry for the people in Estonia with problematic feet (including those who are suffering from diabetes), for disabled and for elderly people. In order to carry out high-quality courses of study The Estonian First Private Cosmetic School is planning to purchase the necessary equipment and appurtenances for the studies. There will be 5 participants in the project– principal/vocational teacher/ nurse, coordinator of studies/vocational teacher, development manager/vocational teacher, two vocational teachers (one of them is nurse). The owner of the school/principal and the coordinator of studies have the longest working experience of all the teachers, roped in the project. Both of them work as vocational trainers as well, being at school since its origination (19 years). Additionally, the principal has a long-term experience in the field of international collaboration. The teachers with pedagogical and professional education have additionally studied 1 or 3 years vocational training in Tallinn University and also passed national professional exam and international CIDESCO exam. Before starting teaching at school, all the teachers have been practicing in the enterprises. The inquiry was carried on in the phase of preparation of the project. The inquiry focused on the health of feet and the target were the clients of the salon of the school and of the retirement home. To gain additional input to the project the interviews were carried through (including people in wheel-chairs). The necessity of the planed project revealed itself in analysis of the results of the inquiry. Additional measures were transacting pre-contracts with partners, preparing initial budget and schedule. The planned activities of the project are the development of the skills of podiatry according to the models of Germany and Latvia and thereafter preparing the brand new curriculum. The project manager is the main person in launching the project. She is the principal of the school and has a lot of international experience. In order to launch the project successfully, the main task for the project manager is to create a requisite system and to assure the proprietary organisation of labour, relying on the leadership of the school, accountancy and other functions which aid the system. While coordinating the project, it is important for the project manager to follow the plan of the project, to inform, to guarantee necessary supplies, to transact additional contacts, to make decisions, to observe and check the realisation and the outcome of the project. As we take into consideration the desire of Estonian people to improve the health and well-being of feet, the Estonian First Private Cosmetic School is about to willing to resolve the problems in society and to elaborate a new curriculum for podiatry in cooperation with international partners. The new curriculum will be disserting medical foot care that has not been taught in Estonia yet, though it has been taught in other states of European Union. The principal of Estonian First Private Cosmetic School is willing to develop the curriculum of podiatry and to launch it in vocational training. The vision of the outcome of the project of Estonian First Private Cosmetic School is to create a brand new curriculum of podiatry in Estonia and launching it in the studying process of school in 2016.
