Education for Equal Opportunities at Croatian Universities

The Project is classified as a University management and student services project – in the category of Student Services (962) and its duration will be 3 years. In this project university teachers and students participate as project staff as well as a target group, which also consists of university administrative staff.The Wider objective is equalizing of opportunities in higher education for Students with Disabilities (SWDs) in Republic of Croatia (CRO) which will tends to be realized through enhancement of existing and development of new forms of support in equalizing opportunities for SWDs in Croatian Universities, initiation of creation of national standards and guidelines for development of accessibility of higher education for SWDs and ensuring of accessibility, sustainability and quality of a system of support equalization.Based on good-practice examples of partner country universities as well as personal professional knowledge, experiences, and expert literature, the Project will result with initialization of a course titled ´Peer Support for Students with Disabilities’, publication of 6-8 manuals about adapting academicactivities for SWDs, educated educators in Croatian universities (16 in total), and finally educated instructors and administrators at all Croatian universities (approximately 100 + 100 persons). Besides these, conditions for introduction of unitary national standards and guidelines for development of accessibility of higher education for SWD in Republic of Croatia.Developing of Project and its improvement, and all activities will be attended through internal and external methods of evaluation. During the project, a network of representatives of all Croatian universities charged with providing support and further implementation of activities initiated with this project and with the goal of advancement of accessibility and quality and equalization of opportunities in higher education for SWDs will be formed. Some form of official support services for students with disabilities will be formed at each PC University following the completion of the project (person in charge, established committee, founded office). A webpage containing information about all implemented and planned project activities, all results, and reports about implementation and assessment will be initiated at the beginning of the project and updated throughout the project.
