The wider objective is to enhance and accelerate efficiency of innovative cross-border cooperation between Russian and Finnish eco-enterprises for the formation of the eco-products market in the Southeast Finland and Northwest Russia, which should reduce human impacts on the environment and become an important component of sustainable development of the region. As specific objectives the project will create theoretical basis, practical assumptions and methodology to enhance cooperation between Finnish and Russian experts in the field of eco-industry; promote innovative activity and high technology business; share experience of last technological developments in the field of eco-industry, measures of environmental protection and the joint Russian-Finnish quality control of Eco-products; and development of the sustainable strategy for the long term cooperation. Achievements: The main objective of the project was to enhance and accelerate the efficiency of innovative cross-border cooperation in the field of eco-industry between Russian and Finnish eco-enterprises by creating a theoretical basis, practical assumptions and the methodology to enhance cooperation. The results were achieved by developing and finishing the "Standard for organic food production and processing" both in English and in Russian. In addition, the project was responsible for the organisation of the bibliography of the Standard, which is also available digitally on partner Ecological Union's website www.ecounion.ru. During the implementation, project partners carried out several analyses and studies concerning organic food production and the evaluation of farmers that are looking to be certified. During the implementation, the project was responsible for the development of an online tool for the Standard criteria assessment to help farmers determine their compliance with the requirements. The project was responsible for the publication of informational booklets for the public on organic agricultural and ecological certification.
