Eco-construction can offer a sustainable answer to economic, social, environmental and cultural challenges. Thepartners identify common problems that require a solution at regional level, without being hampered by a border.On an economic front, the transport of large volumes of materials with a low added value raises a major problem, especially given the rising energy costs. Because of the lack of harmony in construction and space consuming habitat, the landscape undergoes significant changes. In addition, people sometimes unnecessarily waste energy. This is the environmental challenge.On a social front, the partners want to avoid ghetto effects and support the creation of energy production cooperatives.Concerning the cultural challenge, finally, both regions should adopt uniform building standards, promoting for example the use of dried mud.In response to these challenges, the partners’ mission is to create conditions conducive to the development of the eco-construction sector, to put in place eco-neighbourhood/eco-village project development tools,and to identify and follow up two reference projects. In addition, it is also important to raise awareness among the population in the cross-border area and provide solutions on eco-construction.
