ECAH (European Committee of Accreditation in Haematology) - Establishment and Accreditation of a System of Speciality Training and Continuing Education in Haematology across the EU countries

Led by the European Haematology Organisation (EHA) the ECAH project will address the need to assess and harmonise the quality of specialist training and Continuing Medical Education (CME) in Haematology throughout Europe.Project activities will comprise: the qualitative assessment of CME across Europe and the associated countries; the progressive design and implementation of an effective system for the accreditation and quality control of CME; the establishment of recommendations for the selection and standardisation of medical tests and equipment (to both reduce costs and increase efficiency); the collection of information on existing national and European curricula for assessment and comparison and the design of a curriculum of specialist training for the up-grading and harmonisation of the quality of training and patient care in Haematology in Europe. Overall, the project aims to facilitate greater professional mobility within the field of Haematology in Europe.Expected results of the project include analyses of training methods and curricula; assessment and recommendations for the use of self-learning tools appropriate to the sector; a revised curricula; a set of supporting guidelines with regard to CME (specific to Haematology.).Project dissemination will be linked to the activities of the involved European associations and institutions and will make further use of partner websites, newsletters and relevant international conferences and seminars.Primary target groups include physicians (trained in Haematology), practising European haematologists, academic haematologists and trainers in the field.
