EASTMEAT - Innovative Training for the Meat Sector in Central and Eastern European Countries

This project will address the results of a training and information needs analysis carried out by a previous project for the meat sector in pre-accession countries. That study identified that continuous in-service training was required for workers in the industry, especially those in middle management. Many enterprises, especially SMEs, need up-to-date technologies and skills. A training system will therefore be developed in conjunction with vocational training organisations and other actors in the industry. It will consist of four modules (addressing meat market demands, meeting the legislation relating to meat, managing the modern meat industry, forthcoming aspects of meat production) and a searchable database of meat related terms. This course will enable the industry and its trainers to experiment with new training methodologies and delivery systems and apply the contents to in-service training programmes. Only some aspects of the training will be available on the Internet as the programme can only be effectively carried out in the traditional group setting. The results will be publicised through trade networks and journals.
