Early School-leaving & Second-chance Education
Date du début: 1 janv. 2013,

Tackling early school-leaving has been a priority focus for educational policy makers and core providers have supported a wide range of actions to try and stem the outflow from formal education. Second-chance education is a relatively new addition to the educational landscape. At all educational levels, in formal and informal environments, many years of development work in local, national and international contexts has produced a wide range of innovative interventions. Exploiting these actions and innovations; highlighting best practices developed; disseminating the evidence base created and using it to influence policy makers and practitioners throughout the educational landscape is the primary aim of this project. This project will focus on 4 key innovative elements namely;1. To identify the most appropriate approaches ata. prevention – measures like family learning, early childhood development, etc.; b. intervention – measures like career guidance, special needs education, etc.; c. compensation – measures like second-chance education, key competence acquisition, etc.;2. To place educators and target groups at the centre of the process through the establishment of Assessment Groups to examine previous models developed and validate best practice mechanisms and resources.3. To adopt a whole-of-Europe approach engaging project developers and promoters in all 27 Member States to ensure that the best available examples are identified and made available for future use on a bespoke ESSE online observatory and also to broaden the number of project ‘stakeholders’ beyond the consortium to ensure maximum valorisation potential.4. To develop an ESSE Annual Awards event where those responsible for innovation and best practice in addressing early school-leaving are duly recognised and accredited.
