EABL Youth Leaders Training Canary Islands 2014
Date du début: 1 oct. 2014,
Date de fin: 31 janv. 2015
PROJET
TERMINÉ
At present an important part of the European population does not feel identified with the EU project. The crisis years have resulted in an erosion of the great support once enjoyed by the European project.
Young people meanwhile live through a real crisis of lack of opportunities, with youth unemployment rates over 60% in some parts of the EU, something unthinkable only a few years ago. However, young people do not seem to show a sufficiently active role in terms of participating and carrying out actions that can contribute to a fundamental change of the current situation.
The non-formal learning methodologies provide interesting and powerful tools to for the development of key skills and behavioral change, but currently do not enjoy enough recognition and therefore are not being used to its full potential. Experience and Adventure Based Learning (EABL) belongs to the field of non-formal learning methodologies.
INDICOT works currently together with other European organisations as part of the City Bound Europe network to contribute to positive change in society through EABL oriented activities designed for young people.
This project takes the form of a training (Training Course TC) with a duration of seven days and used the EABL based methodology, which involved a total of 15 participants, mostly aged between 20 and 30 years representing entities from Romania, Greece, Czech Republic, Germany, the UK and Spain.
The objectives of this project have been:
- to promote the benefits of the European project and active citizenship among young Europeans.
- to increase the recognition of non-formal education methods in general and methodologies of learning through experience and adventure (EABL) in particular, as valid professional and personal development tools
- to increase the number of trained youth leaders in EABL
- to build capacity to work with different network organizations and strengthen the capacity of the network as a whole in order to increase the quality of current and future projects.
- to contribute to developing the EABL Youth Leaders Toolbox: a central repository of resources, tools, and guidelines for best practices for youth leaders involved in activities that are based on the EABL methodology.
This project has managed to have a large impact on participating organizations by strengthening their capabilities and skills to work with other organizations in international networks. Participants are more aware of the rationale and objectives of the City Bound Europe network and the challenges of the EU.
Youth workers who have participated in this TC have developed new skills and competences or improved existing ones, in particular in relation to EABL methodologies but also in relation to such important skills such as sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, social skills and interpersonal and English language competences, besides having developed a better understanding of European multiculturalism and having reinforced their professional network and created new contacts.
In the medium and long term these participating youth workers and their organizations will continue to contribute to the objectives of this project through their own work with youth groups in different actions, in particular in international youth exchanges, especially those based on EABL methodologies.
