E-modules on HistoPathology: a valuable online tool for students, researchers and professionals
Date du début: 1 janv. 2013,

HIPON’s aim is not to provide just another pathology website atlas but to teach medical students and training pathologists the right way of approaching the microscopic images of tissues and cells i.e., how to recognize the basic pattern of injury (and not give primary attention to confusing details) and how to correlate this general pattern with underlying mechanisms of disease and clinical data. The prospect to transmit this professional experience through a e-learning web platform / toolkit, taking advantage of modern image technology is quite challenging and has so far not been seriously attempted by pathologists. Principal reason of the proposed project is the internal every semester need in the educational and vocational process of the project beneficiaries. Through meetings and discussions it was evident that this need was not only in Greece, but evident in many other countries. Consortium agreed to develop this platform initially for internal use, but promotion of the platform as a product is a returning investment.Project will result in a well structured and user friendly e-learning platform with brief texts and extended microscope image collections of each case. Further to the platform, the courses will include high pedagogical experience in order to transfer ‘way-of-thinking' and experience rather than just information. The platform, together with the courses will form a ready-to-use multilingual product to be exploited for all educational and vocational sectors (public and private), either in distant learning process or physical teaching process, for students and graduates, beginner residents and professionals in need of vocational training. Our motive is to convey insight into pathology and professional experience to trainees so that they develop the practical skills necessary to the immense field of modern pathology through an interesting and stimulating web-based platform.
