Dynamo Youth Exchange
Date du début: 30 juil. 2014, Date de fin: 29 déc. 2015 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Dynamo Youth Exchange brought together 17 young people from the UK and Jordan to participate in an inter-cultural youth exchange, focusing on different societies, culture, artistic & enterprise skills, informal language skills, active citizenship, and the promotion of cultural tolerance, fostering an international platform for social cohesion between EU states and Mediterranean’s neighbours. 60% of participants were from a BAME background, with particular focus on the British-Somali Community. Dynamo Youth Exchange provided an opportunity for unemployed and low skilled young people from the UK and Jordan to develop a youth network of mutual understanding between diverse cultures in Europe and the Middle East, while also encouraging inter-cultural investigation in a range of key topics including: Society; Culture; Arts; Literature; Politics; and Democracy; EU Citizenship; Social Action; and Cultural similarities and differences. Young people developed their language skills in English and Arabic, while also developing key personal, life and employability skills, through informal and non-formal learning activities, with a focus on culture, art, literature, enterprise and education. Young people participated in workshops that developed their enterprise and artistic skills. Workshops included: Digital Arts; Photography; Writing dynamic articles & literature; e-Film producing; and Drama skills. Young people also developed enterprise skills which supported them to mobilise their artistic self-expression for the world to see through, first Asfar's e-platforms and then through other organisations throughout the UK and Amman, including the British Youth Council; the British-Arab Centre; Comment Mid East; and other platforms for self-expression. In particular, young people from the UK, learned about their EU Citizenship, what it means on a practical level, and how they can be proactive EU citizens, through participating in the electoral system. Young people also engaged with young people outside of the EU and learn about their culture and their understanding of citizenship, as well as EU citizenship as an outsider. While young people in Jordan learned about the EU and its’ democratic neighbours, how European democracy developed, how EU ideas could be adopted in Jordan. Also Europe’s history was reviewed, in particular how this influenced the history of Jordan and the UK (i.e. the Arab Revolt, the establishment of the Arab Kingdom of Trans-Jordan, the British Mandate, the establishment of the Israeli state, which resulted in the creation of Jordan and its short rule over the West Bank and Jerusalem, to today). Participants were encouraged to build international relationships and to develop their own projects. Employability and Enterprise skills were developed, providing participants a foundation of key life skills required for personal development, working life and promoting long term aspirations. Young people connected through this two-way Youth Exchange in Amman, Jordan and London, UK, engaged with their peers, while learning about their individual diverse countries, culture, art & literature and history. Dynamo Youth Exchange also promoted civic participation of young citizens, towards playing an active part in their communities, on a local and international level. Young people engaged with their decision-makers, develop self-representational skills and through entrepreneurial skills, develop diverse artistic outcomes such as assisting the production of a programme e-Film, composition of Articles, taking Photographs, which will be platform through a special Erasmus+ edition of the Asfar e-Journal.
