DYCOWFI :Dynamic Competences in Wood and Furniture Industry

In the European Council in Lisbon in 2000, we came to the conclusion that the improvement of transparency in qualifications and permanent learning should be two key elements in the adaptation of education and training European systems to the demands of the knowledge society and the need to improve quality and quantity of employment. At present, the wood and furniture sectors are in a continuous process of adaptation to technological changes and to the market globalisation. These transformations involve a challenge for the workers in the sector, who have to valorise the knowledge and competences acquired by professional experience to prevent themselves from being left out of the labour market. “DYCOWFI: Dynamic Competences in Wood and Furniture Industry” project was born in order to valorise the products of projects that have taken place in the context of Leonardo da Vinci program to meet the following need: Recognition of other Learning Systems, that is to give value to the competences acquired by the workers in the wood sector by learning ways that are different from the traditional ones (regulated training) such as not formal and informal learning, which can be professional experience and practice. Concretely, the following is desired to be transferred: 1) System for Competence Recognition and Validation, product resulting from Chemitech Leonardo da Vinci project (E/04/B/F/PP – 149.246) developed from 2004 to 2006, to the wood sector; 2) the methodology to identify key processes developed in DIPROCU project (E/01/B/F/PP – 115.555) and the methodology for competence recognition EVA (E/01/B/F/PP – 115.825).Direct beneficiaries of the Competence Recognition and Validation System, product from DYCOWFI project, will be mainly the workers in the wood and furniture sector, with wide experience and without a certificate showing their competences, who will see their competences recognised.
