The project aims to give the researcher (Smedbäck) a strong research experience at the outgoing host (Princeton University), which is then to be applied in the return host (Uppsala University).The main research objective of the project 'Dualities between gauge theory and string theory' is to work on extensions of the AdS/CFT duality. This is a manifestation of the so-called holographic duality, which occurs in string theory, which is the leading framework for uniting the physical description of all fundamental forces.This is a project, which suits and will evolve both Smedbäck and the host institutes. The project also aims to train Smedbäck's basic research abilities and his communications skills, to interact with other top-level scientists (through meetings, seminars and presentations).Training in project management and development of leadership skills are also included in the project (by assignment of responsibilities to the researcher), as well as pedagogical training (by teaching duties during return phase).To make sure the objectives are met, guidance, mentoring and an individual training programme supported by people at both hosts have been set up.
