Bucovat Primary School is located in Timis County, near Surduc Lake and Poiana Rusca Mountains, a countryside surrounded by beautifull nature with a complex of old wooden churches unique in western part of Romania. Our school is a small one with 28 pupils between 6 to 10 years old and 2 primary teachers but has very good educational conditions, in warm and clean classrooms. We have sport ground, library and one computer lab too. Each student can acces Internet and work at theire pc.We have good relationship with local authorities and all schools from our areas, with local comunity, parents but olso with Timis County School Inspectorate.50% from our pupils comes from very poor families, dead parents, divorced or alcoolic families which dealing with subsistence agriculture and livestock without having any job.Unemployment rates are high among parents, the lack of industry and other main economical branches being the cause of that.Because of this the pupils are not able to get involved in social activities such as cinema, concerts, theatre. The school it is only way through which many children can socialize, therefor it is high importance for us that we provide various activities and this is an important project for our students.
We need our teachers to participate at learning mobility of individuals and NGO”Motivated Learning for Everyone”(http://mlfe.info/)is the one who can answer to our needs through this two courses:“Navigator to KA1 and KA2 of Erasmus+: How to plan, prepare and manage a Successful Project”,Barcelona and“Digital Classroom:Using ICT in Education”,London. Our aims is to have at least one good manager who can write and develop successfull Erasmus+ and Etwinning projects for our school and to have all our teachers specialized in using ICT,to create best practices and work with interactive and modern techniques. Participants will learn about the theory and practice of e-learning and its prospects and will acquire and share experience of working in the digital classroom environments and learning management systems, new media, and in the context of cyber culture. We will involve all the staff and pupils in our school as part of the project(3 teachers and 28 students)but there will be 2 mobilities of 2 primary teachers.
Our pupils and teachers will participate at many activities:we will integrate in our curriculum a new ICT discipline for two classes,we will have two teachers mobilities and will keep in touch with provider, teachers will find partners and write an Erasmus KA2 and KA1 project and develop two Etwinning projects. Together with pupils, teachers will integrate into classes all new ICT metode, pupils will write 50 booklets and 100 foldings, pupils will create videos, articles,we will organized two meetings, one workshop with others teachers from Timis County and we will monitorized, evaluate and disseminate the project.
The project`s activities will help our students in order to improve their ICT skills, their understanding of the diversity of Euro-culture and its language and will promote intercultural dialoque developing Etwinning projects. This will develop a greater understanding of the lives of people in other countries and cultures – developing understanding, tolerance and respect for each other. Teachers will develop their professional, personal, linguistic, cultural, digital skills. All our pupils will get in touch with european ideas that often seems to be very abstract concept and not a part of people s daily life,in spite of actualy living in a multicultural society. Our pupils will understand different habits, values and ways of living.Training teachers in this project makes them better teachers!Students will have a better education! All are more motivated and full of energy and new ideas after project.Local Authorities will have more trust in school.
What we mostly need now in education, is not an evolution, but a revolution. The digital classroom, multimedia, internet, all these new technologies very appealing and native inclined for young generations, combined with the competences and abilities acquired during this project by the teachers, offers a powerful impact, an opportunity to revolutionize education, and this revolution must be done, because it is vital for our students. This is the key that makes this initiative a success for children. Starting from these premises, we consider that in the implementation of the new curriculum, to be put into action with modern methods and technologies centered on students, if we do not offer our students palpable and new things, the possibility to experiment, to play, to interact with different tools and software that they have no access at home, the school will still be far from fulfilling its mission. As Ralph Waldo Emmerson said, "no important thing was built without enthusiasm, nonetheless a durable learning". Our students have this enthusiasm and the beneficially on long term is that they will finally say: "learning is fun"!
