Soljienitsyne College is a public school located in rural areas.
A large proportion of students come from poor backgrounds or very disadvantaged (45%) , many have little interest in school and many young girls who have a profile for further studies stop themselves from going into longer cursus.
Number of students would refuse to go to a suitable school, more in harmony with theur own whishes, because they would consider it as"too far" from home.
Moreover , the phenomenon of harassment is growing inside our school , as in many institutions.
The European opening of the school is building up, , while the emphasis on languages is put in the school plan.
The course we apply for takes place in Iceland. It is divided in two parts. It is sensitization training to all forms of discrimination. It is relevant as we struggle daily against harassment , sexism and a some social determinism. Main focus of the second session is on inclusive and more complex cooperative teaching methods.
Teachers will present and reflect on their experience in their classrooms after the first session.
They will learn how to develop more complex cooperative learning tasks and create them for
their own tasks.
It will also give a strong signal to the teachers about the willingness of the management to envolve the school into European opening.
Eight staff members participating were selected on three criteria:
- Existing investment in the CESC ( Committee to health education and citizenship )
- Desire to invest in a transdisciplinary project on the prevention of discrimination may provide support to eTwinning .
- teachers involved in the "Class without marks, strategies to evaluate pupils in a diffent way"
This action will:
* weld the participating team around a global project
* pave the way for other European partnerships
* implement cross preventive actions ( harassment , sexism, all forms of discrimination)
* pave the way for a common reflection lines of work to restore appetite school students in check
* provide a dynamic and a European dimension to our small school from Vendée .
