Title: “Don´t be a couch potato” Activity type: Youth mobility Hosting organization: Youth Empowerment in a European Society – YEES, n. o. Serbia Context/background of the project: The project is set in the environment that is full of cultural heritage, beautiful nature and sport organisations working with youth. It focuses on enriching youth´s healthy and active lifestyle by activities connected to civic engagement through sport, health literacy, culture,, and involves 25 youngsters in order to increase their knowledge abouth healthy and active lifestyle, physical activities that can be done instead of wasting time using a computer and “meeting” on social networks. The objectives of this project are to create a space for social integration through face 2 face communication, workshops focused on an active social life in the field of sports and culture – some activities will be chosen and used to “Fun and Play Day (prepared inexpensive activities for "Fun and Play Day” for the local youth, which will show the importance of building social activities with minimal financial cost and technological achievements ), and to learn to prepare leaflets and information material. Profile of the participants: youth - high school and university students interested in the topic of active lifestyle. Description of the activities: The activities are divided into the following topics: 1. Skills for communication and team player 2. Active vs. passive life related to families, culture 3. Needs vs. desire of youth (health diseases, negative influence of media - models, sportmen, etc.) 4. The awareness of Healthy and active lifestyle 4 youth ( positive influences on social inclusion, jobs, future families, etc. ) The project hosts a number of intercultural workshops delivered by skilled (peer 2 peer) facilitators accompanying with YEES team. Throughout the programme, the participants create final work (Fun and Play Day) as an outdoor event for the local youth. Methodology used in carrying out the project: The methods vary depending on the topics and are as follows: warm-ups, workshops, simulation, discussion, role-plays, icebreakers/energizers, group work, learning-by-doing activities, presentations, group reflection, self-reflection, supplementary activities of the participants, active outdoor activities, etc. Short description of the results and impact envisaged: In general, the participants will develop awareness of active lifestyle, increase communicational competences, learn different ways of spending free time in traditional way, the role of a family as a basic unit of society which is the most important channel for spreading cultural heritage and teaching habits will be supported. As the project results to gain the feedback about the project, we will organize Fun and Play day, create booklet as an activity manual, project report available on the Internet, posters and videos. The potential longer term benefits: - Rouse an interest in the traditional way of spending free time within the families and friends of all participants and the local people participated on the project - Preserve cultural heritage (traditions, habits, customs) for youth and next generation - Have healthier generation (active, socially included, and work active)
