Domestic and External EU Environmental Policy
Date du début: 1 sept. 2016, Date de fin: 31 août 2019 PROJET  TERMINÉ

Despite being the only institution in the country to offer IR and EU Studies at the Bachelor level, and acting as a reference point, it has been struggling to offer internationally competitive specialised knowledge on EU issues. This has included the field of environment, which, instead of being reinforced, is currently heavily marginalised. The proposed Module introduces the environment as a key domain in the study programmes of and as a linkage between IR and EU studies. It launches EU environmental policy as a fascinating domain to study a complex and deeply interconnected multi-level governance system and to demonstrate the interplay between law and politics. The module will be carried out over 60 hours per year. It will develop good practices of teaching by integrating interactional and innovative methods, including a dialogue with policy-makers and representatives of civil society. Every year, a roundtable will be organized. The key outputs of the action are interactional lectures and events, teaching material, openly accessible via a dedicated platform, an article on the EU environment policy for lay audience and a peer reviewed research article on the theme of environment and the EU enlargement process. Learning outcomes of the Module will benefit around 50 Bachelor students of EU studies and IR, other students at the Faculty. The module will attempt to attract the participation of some students from the Biotechnological Faculty in order to introduce them to the fundamentals of the policy processes and to foster a genuine interdisciplinary dialogue between the two groups of students. The grant will put the EU environmental policy on the map of the EU studies and enhance its visibility in the Slovenian context during and beyond the project. It will provide a Slovenian scholar of a new generation an unparalleled opportunity to establish a teaching and research relationship with the Faculty and assert herself as an expert to the broader national audience.
